Community members are invited to apply for one of two eight-week\, 40 hour training courses that prepare volunteers to advocate for children in foster care throughout Crook\, Deschutes\, and Jefferson Counties. CASAs are community volunteers who are assigned to a child or sibling group in foster care. They get to know the child\, get to know everyone in the child's life\, and advocate for the child's best interests in the courtroom and in the community. They ensure that every child has a caring adult on their side during their time in foster care. Training will be offered in both Bend and Madras to better serve communities across Central Oregon. Participants receive comprehensive training and ongoing support from CASA staff throughout their volunteer journey. No legal or social work experience is required.
