Freedom for Great Apes (FGA), the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Oregon, is excited to announce its participation in the worldwide Giving Day for Apes fundraiser, taking place on October 3rd! This event aims to raise crucial funds to support our mission of continuing to provide a forever home for Herbie, CJ, Jackson, Emma and future rescued chimpanzees calling this place home.
Giving Day for Apes is a remarkable opportunity for individuals and organizations to come together and make a significant impact on the lives of these intelligent beings. Last year, thanks to the generosity of supporters, we raised over $40,000, enabling us to continue our vital work. This year we set an exciting goal of $85,000. These funds are essential for the chimpanzees’ loving care, nutritious meals, innovative enrichment, companionship with other chimpanzees as well as sanctuary modernization, and maintenance.
While the event is live today, the impact of donations increases on the biggest day of the event, October 3rd; giving us the chance to win "power hours" from matching grants and more! (see Giving Day Timeline below)

7:00am - 8:00am (Early Birds!): You could be the lucky winner for FGA if your name is drawn. Earn FGA an extra $100 during this hour by donating any amount!
10:00am - 11:00am: FGA could win an extra $2,500 during this Power Hour for most dollars raised! On top of that, FGA also has a $5,000 match dollar-for-dollar from the Clarke Family Foundation during this hour! Make you dollars count here!
11:00am - 12:00pm: FGA could win an extra $500 during this Golden Ticket hour - Even a $5.00 donation could be the lucky winner! The more donations FGA receives the more chances we have to win.
1:00pm - 2:00pm: FGA has another opportunity to win $500 with any amount donated during this Golden Ticket hour! You could be the lucky winner for FGA! And remember, the more donations FGA receives, the more chances we have to win.
3:00pm - 4:00pm: FGA has another opportunity to win an extra $2,500 during this Power Hour. This time, for engaging the most individual donors! We have another unbelievable dollar-for-dollar match of $5,000 from the Clarke Family Foundation during this hour! Make your dollars count here by donating any amount, even as little as $5.00!
4:00pm - 5:00pm: FGA has another opportunity to win $500 with any amount donated during this Golden Ticket hour! You could be the lucky winner for FGA!
5:00pm - 6:00pm: Again! FGA has another opportunity to win $500 with any amount donated during this Golden Ticket hour! Will you be the lucky winner for FGA?
7:00pm - 8:00pm: It just keeps going! FGA has two opportunities to win during this hour. A $100 prize and/or a $500 prize (Golden Ticket) for any amount donated! There could be two winners for FGA and all you need to do is make a donation!
8:00pm - 9:00pm: Anyone can win this $400 prize for FGA. You just need to be the last person to donate any amount before the clock strikes 9pm on October 3rd! Will you be the last lucky winner for FGA?
