Wednesday, September 9, 2026 (4:00 PM - 6:00 PM) (PDT)
Description

Value-Driven and Empathic Conversations in the Workplace @ COCC
In this highly interactive Expert Lab, you'll discover why the most challenging conversations aren't just about what is being said—they're about how people feel while it's being said. Through engaging discussions, self-reflection, partner activities, and real-world practice, you'll explore the hidden relational messages behind every conversation and learn practical tools to build trust, empathy, and psychological safety.
Together, we'll uncover how your personal values can become your communication compass, helping you approach difficult conversations with greater confidence, clarity, and compassion. You'll also practice proven listening techniques, explore the Nonviolent Communication model, and receive live coaching as you work through real workplace scenarios.
You'll leave with practical strategies you can use immediately to navigate challenging conversations, strengthen workplace relationships, and create more productive, respectful dialogue—even when the stakes are high.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Recognize how relational messages shape trust, safety, and connection in workplace conversations.
- Identify their core workplace values and use them to communicate with greater intentionality.
- Demonstrate empathic listening strategies that strengthen understanding and psychological safety.
- Apply practical communication tools to navigate challenging workplace conversations with confidence and compassion
